Sazerac Rye 18,The renowned Sazerac Coffee House was established in 1850 on Exchange Alley in New Orleans, Louisiana, and quickly rose to popularity as the origin of the Sazerac, sometimes known as “America’s First Cocktail.” What eventually became the official cocktail of New Orleans was made with rye whiskey in place of the French brandy, a splash of Peychaud Bitters, and Herbsaint.
The smooth spice and dry sweetness of this straight rye dance on the tongue, providing pure pleasure deserving of the Sazerac moniker.
Very mature, with hints of allspice, leather, and molasses. Mint, eucalyptus, cinnamon, vanilla, and lingering pepper are among the flavors that come before the lengthy, warm finish.
The standard quality alcohol created by fermenting and distilling natively cultivated rye is known as rye alcohol 96%. Alcohol used as a raw material has a distinctive flavor, clear color, and nearly no contaminants.

One of the first three products in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection’s initial release, Sazerac Rye 18 Year-Old, came out in 2000. Eagle Rare 17 Year-Old and W. L. Weller 19 Year-Old were the other two albums released.
The parent firm of Buffalo Trace, Sazerac firm, was established in 1869 in New Orleans by Thomas H. Handy and goes by the name Sazerac. As the birthplace of the Sazerac, “America’s First Cocktail,” Sazerac Coffee House rose to popularity.
Whisky Advocate named Sazerac 18 Year-Old the American Whiskey of the Year in 2005. Buffalo Trace emptied the barrels into stainless steel tanks, putting an end to the maturing process rather(Sazerac Rye 18) than taking the chance of over-oaking any of the spring 1985 distillate they had aging. Sazerac 18 Year-Old was a Sazerac from 2006 to 2015.
The One and Only Original from New Orleans. Sazerac Rye Whiskey is a representation of New Orleans’ tradition and past. Rye whiskey from the 1800s, when New Orleans’ streets were lined with saloons that were disguised as coffee houses. Locals were served toddies made with Rye Whiskey and Peychaud’s Bitters at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street.
The drink took on the name “Sazerac,” becoming the first branded cocktail in America. The original whiskey is this one.
NOTES ON THE TASTE: Clove, vanilla, anise, and pepper aromas. subtle hints of citrus, spices, and candies. The substantial aftertaste is silky with licorice undertones.
Dark ruby copper in color (13/20), with thick legs and sporadic rapid, fine tears.
Grassy and dried hay, dusty cinnamon(Sazerac Rye 18) spice, spicy rye and ryebread, cocoa powder, linseed oil/putty, maple-smoked bacon, toffee-coated popcorn, and a little dusty and chalky scent are all present in the aroma(Sazerac Rye 18).
Taste: Sweet corn/popcorn, cornflakes, toffee, smooth oak wood, ryebread, pumpernickel, pumpkin spice, tobacco, gingerbread, fairly drying with well-integrated spices baked into the cereal grains, including cinnamon, ginger, star anise, clove, and mace.
