Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon, Colonel Albert B. Blanton, previous distillery president, had a very rare supply of bourbon – his secret reserve – chosen and held in legendary famed Warehouse H. Elmer T. Lee introduced the world to Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon a year before he retired in 1984, launching the Blanton’s brand. He revolutionized the industry by creating the world’s first single barrel bourbon. After the Original 93 proof and Gold 103 proof, Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel was the third version manufactured. Bourbon connoisseurs adore this cask strength bourbon.
On the nose, there’s dark chocolate, caramel, and earthy notes of walnut and hazelnut. Warm vanilla, oak, toasted nuts, and a deep spiciness with undertones of butterscotch or honey dominate the taste. The high alcohol content is aggressive and forceful, but yet appealing. Unfiltered, uncut, and incredible(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon).

Concerning Blanton’s Bourbon
Albert Bacon Blanton was born in the winter of 1881 on a farm just outside of Frankfort, Kentucky. Blanton began working as an office boy at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (commonly abbreviated O.F.C. Distillery) when he was 16 years old. Blanton apparently worked in every department at the distillery during the following few years. He was appointed superintendent of O.F.C. at the age of 20 and stayed there until his retirement in 1952(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon).
Blanton, like his master E.H. Taylor, was a conventional bourbon aristocrat committed to producing Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Blanton picked a part of Warehouse H at his distillery that he thought was ideal for aging bourbon and would personally select individual barrels from the sector to bottle for his own private reserve(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon).
Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is still aged in the same portion of Warehouse H where Blanton’s Private Reserve was aged more than 50 years ago. Made using a high-rye mash bill of corn(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon), rye, and malted barley from Buffalo Trace(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon).
The Sazerac Company manufactures and markets Blanton’s bourbon whiskey. The Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, produces it.
Under the direction of the distillery’s head distiller Elmer T. Lee, the Blanton’s brand was introduced in 1984 as the first modern bourbon offered as a single barrel whiskey. The brand’s original name was “Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon.” The barrels are dumped by hand, with no machinery used(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon). There are eight stopper styles, each with a different letter of the alphabet molded into it and topped with a racehorse and jockey figurine.
When the horse and jockey’s positions are arranged in the letter “B L A N T O N’ S,” they depict eight various moments from a horse race, from standing at the gate to crossing the finish line with a win(Blanton Straight From the Barrel Bourbon).
