Single Oak Project, Buffalo Trace Distillery has been a quality and innovation leader for almost two centuries. The Single Oak Project is the company’s most innovative and thorough experiment to date. It all started with 96 independently chosen American oak trees, each with a different amount of growth rings per inch and growing location. Each tree was then divided into two halves – top and bottom – resulting in 192 distinct tree sections(single oak project for sale ). Each component was combined to form a single barrel.
The stave seasoning was modified prior to construction. The 192 barrels were then burned in various ways. These single oak barrels were then loaded with various recipe whiskeys at varied entry proofs and matured in various warehouse styles. This experiment allows whiskey enthusiasts to compare the impact of seven different essential variables across 192 bottles for a total of 1,396 tasting combinations(single oak project for sale ). The 192 bottles in the whole set are all unique. The Single Oak Project is without a doubt the most thorough bourbon experiment ever attempted.
Each Single Oak Project bourbon has a distinct flavor character that varies depending on the recipe, barrel seasoning and char degree, tree cut, wood grain, entry proof, and maturing warehouse.

A four-year search for “the ideal whiskey” came to an end this week with Bison Follow Refinery’s announcement that consumers had chosen Barrel #80 as their favorite in the Single Oak Venture. Buffalo Trace, in the meantime, gathered mountains of data on how passage proof, wood grain, and, unexpectedly, the cut of a tree affect the flavor of its whiskey.
