Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon, Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton was born in 1881 on a farm near the distillery. Colonel Blanton was engaged as a clerk in the distillery in 1897, at the (very) young age of 16. He became highly familiar with the distillery’s operations as he grew older, working in every department(Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon).
He began as an office boy at the age of 16 and rose through the ranks to become President of the distillery in 1921. Colonel Blanton’s firsthand knowledge of all areas of the distillery was invaluable. His leadership saw the distillery through some of the most difficult moments of the twentieth century, beginning with Prohibition(blanton’s bourbon for sale).
Colonel Blanton’s astute economic acumen allowed bourbon production to continue during Prohibition, allowing the distillery to remain open when many others were shuttering(blanton’s the original single barrel bourbon). When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, the country was in the grip of the Great Depression. Colonel Blanton’s leadership once again enabled the distillery to thrive during the Depression(Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon).
The distillery was inundated by rising floods of the Kentucky River in 1937. Colonel Blanton miraculously restored the distillery to normal functioning within 24 hours of the storm waters receding. Colonel Blanton’s gift for guiding saved the distillery a few years later(Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon), during World War II, when it was forced to stop producing whiskey and instead make pure alcohol for military purposes.
Colonel Blanton remained unscathed from these ordeals because his drive to develop world-class bourbons never wavered. Most importantly, he brought Kentucky’s time-honored bourbon-making practices into the modern era(blanton’s bourbon for sale).
From the time he was appointed company president in 1921 until his retirement in 1952, his Distillery grew from 44 to 144 structures, making it the largest of its time. Colonel Blanton established his very special and limited supply of bourbon – his private reserve – at that time, chosen and housed in what is now known as the legendary Warehouse H. Colonel Blanton died in the spring of 1959, but his influence continues on.
Blanton’s nameake(Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon) bourbon was the first commercially available Single Barrel Bourbon when it was introduced in 1984. The Single Barrel Bourbon is a first-of-its-kind product.
